Day 13

We have the power to hurt or heal someone with our words.  A  nice word could give someone the encouragement they need to make it through the day, or a rude word could tear down their previous courage. What you may be saying sarcastically or jokingly may be taken seriously by another person. Words could ruin or save a relationship.
Specifically, as christians, the way we interact with other people is direct insight into how our God works. If we are rude and dishonest, people will picture that when they picture God. If we are kind and gentle, that is what people will see when they think of God. We want to encourage people to accept God, not scare them away. Think before you speak. It's a simple concept that just might change a life.

Day 12

Children. What do you think of when you think of a child? Their innocence, the wonder in their eyes, their ability to forgive? I recently read Just A Minute by Wess Stafford and was fascinated by what I read. Wess Stafford shows that every moment with a child counts. You can change a life in just a minute.Think back to when you were little. What is the youngest thought you can remember? For me, it goes like this:
I was about four years old, and I was about to go to bed. My Dad was tucking me in. Since I was the Queen of finding excuses to stay up past my bedtime, I started talking to my Dad. Somehow-or-another we ended up talking about God. My Dad asked me if I believed that Jesus died on the cross to save me, and if I wanted to accept Him into my heart. I replied that I did and he said a repeat-after-me prayer, stopping every few words for me to catch up. To this day, this remains of my most vivid memories.
Though getting saved is part of the reason this memory is most vivid, that's not the only thing. My father took time out of his own life, letting me stay up so he could spend time with me, and because of that decision, my life was changed. My Dad could have told me to go to bed, and then walk out of the room. It would have been that simple. But he didn't. He spent time with me, helping me grow.
Think of some of the young children in your life. Are you setting a good example, or are you leading them down the wrong path? Though you may not know it, these children look up to you. Invest more time in the children in your life, you may be their only chance to hear the word of God. You could change their lives forever, in just a minute.

Day 11: Announcement

I am very pleased to announce that as of this post, I will be cowriting on this blog. My very close friend recently brought up the idea of co-writing, and since she is also very strong in her faith, I agreed. We both want to be missionaries when we're older, if not now. So, with that announcement, let's begin.

Hi everyone, I'm T. N and I have basically always known each other and are really close. We both love God and want to change the world for the better (hint, the blog title), and we love Africa. I know it's already been blogged about, but I want to bring up Kony.
Think, living in constant fear of waking up in the night with a hand over your mouth, forced to be a soldier/slave, and if you anger your captors, tough luck! Really think about that, and then add the fact that you may not know when your next meal is or if you'll have a roof over your head tonight. If you even want to live. This is what children are going through in South Sudan, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and Uganda, children, regular kids like you and me, but without the money, without the blessings, many even without hope or God's love. And then think, you can help. You, you can be a part of helping a child in Africa. There are a zillion ways you could help out, Samaritan's Purse, the Kony campaign, or just spreading the word. Every bit counts, who knows, God could use you to save a life, to change the world for the better.

T :)

Okay, now I want to start off by saying that this is an uncomfortable subject for most people, but I strongly feel that it needs to be addressed: Sex trafficking. I know, tough subject, but it's important. I first got introduced to this concept on The Rebelution and I instantly felt the need to post about it on the blog.
Consider this shocking fact: Every year in the United States, between 100,000 and 250,000 children are trafficked and sexually exploited. Human trafficking isn’t just problems overseas—it’s happening in our own backyards.
Can you believe that? And out of the fifty states, there are only ten support groups. I believe that we need to lend a hand and stand up for the children being sexually exploited.
For more information visit The Rebelution to learn how you can make a difference, perhaps even save a life.
